To celebrate the final season of Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster and baseball icon Vin Scully, I designed a special event logo that pays tribute to the Hall of Famer and his legendary 67 season career. I took careful consideration to develop a logo that celebrated aspects of both Vin's career and his personality. Read about my design process below:

Design Inspiration

"Ladies and gentlemen, the Brooklyn Dodgers are the champions of the world."

The date on the left, rendered in a type reminiscent of the old Brooklyn Dodgers, signifies Vin's first season with the team in New York.

"When I came to Los Angeles, all I knew was that it was like 450 square miles. There was no ‘there.’ In a sense, Dodger Stadium put the ‘there’ in Los Angeles."

The overall shape of the logo is based on the shape of the iconic Dodger Stadium scoreboards.

"A cotton candy sky with a canopy of blue -- looks good enough to eat.”

A sunset gradient fills the background, a nod both to the metaphorical sun setting on Vin's legendary broadcasting career, as well as Vin's penchant for describing beautiful LA sunsets.

“It’s a mere moment in a man’s life between the all-star game and an old timer’s game.”

The date on the right, rendered in the Dodgers iconic red block number type, signifies Vin's historic 67th and final season with the team in LA.
